Small Church Summit

Small Church Summit

Small congregations are beautiful! If you and your small church are ready to wake up and refresh your ministry, bring a group to the Small Church Summit Saturday, February 26 from 9am to 3pm. The Center for Transformational Leadership calls us to rise and shine online for this exceptional virtual event.

We’ll rise, shine, and give God the glory for opening worship and then breathe life into our definition of “church” during the Keynote by Rev. Elizabeth Mae Magill. Imagine how your congregation can resurrect your core identity as church in your specific town, at this specific time in history.

Rev. Liz has been leading small churches for twenty years and has worked with a Lilly Endowment grant to research and support hundreds of small congregations throughout the United States and Canada (plus a few in Scotland!) She’ll use stories of vital small and tiny congregations to help you imagine a vibrant future for your church. Take this rekindled sense of purpose with you as you choose two of five workshops.

Simulcast participants will take a break at lunchtime, while the in-person section will share lunch conversation and guided story-telling to learn more about what other small churches are doing to invigorate their ministries.

The five workshops will awaken your church’s ability to engage with your local community and with each other.  They include:

  • Design to Thrive, by Jeff MacDonald, offers three strategies for vitality with part-time ordained leadership. Jeff is the author of “Part-time is Plenty”.
  • Deborah Rundlett’s Embracing Transformation uses a “two loops” process” to honor the past, while aligning with emergence and growing your missional impact. Many small churches wonder how to use their building for maximum income and maximum ministry to the community.
  • Bridget Johnson will share how to get started on Using Your Building for Financial Stability and Community Engagement.
  • Looking inside our congregations, Cheryl Coronna rouses our instincts for Intergenerational Faith Formation throughout all the work of the church.
  • Lay Worship Leadership with Elizabeth Mae Magill sparks our creative spirit for meaningful worship.

The summit closes with strategies for how to take this home to your congregation.

Register for the Small Church Summit now. The cost for this event is $30 per person. Consider bringing a team from your church for maximum impact. This event is presented by the Center for Transformational Leadership (CTL) of the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ (SNEUCC).
