The secret of success is in turning that diary into the
best story you possibly can.”

Welcome to the Oldtown Church!

We are so glad that you have chosen to worship with us today. We invite you to join in on the bold print in the bulletin and to stand as you are able whenever you see a . The restrooms are out the back door of the sanctuary to the right, as is a little space in case your little one needs a walkabout. Here in Oldtown, we are all about being curious, so don’t be afraid to ask questions, and please join us for fellowship with coffee and refreshments after worship!
Finally, as a way of honoring our time together and truly loving our neighbor, we ask that you please silence your phone or, better yet, turn it off, so you can be truly present in worship.

WELCOME / WORSHIP WAYS

A TIME FOR LETTING GO / OPENING PRAYER

CALL TO WORSHIP
Every day is a new beginning.
We ask God to show us what is good and true.
God has given us gifts and talents to share.
May we not hide them out of fear but let our light shine!
Come, let us worship God.
May our hearts and choices honor God today!

PREPARING OURSELVES FOR PRAYER (C#254)

Fill me with life anew
That I may love what thou dost love
And do what thou dost do.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE and THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER

Weekly Giving

  • Last week, we welcomed 47 people to worship, and our total giving to the church for the week was $1,088.89, which is $411.11 less than expected.
  • Our congregational giving so far this year is $300 less than expected. As summer winds down, please keep supporting your church!

Today, we wish two very talented young women all the best as they begin the next chapter of their lives: the wonderful world of Western Michigan University. We know that the WMU community will benefit greatly from the talents of these two amazing Eagle Scouts. Go and do great things! We will miss you dearly, and earnestly look forward to your return. Godspeed, Megan and Sarah!

“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. People do not light a lamp and put it under the bushel basket; rather, they put it on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
~ Matthew 5:14-16 (NRSVUE)
