First Congregational Church

January 26, 2025

The Annual Meeting and roll call of members of the First Congregational Church UCC of North Attleborough, Mass. was held on Sunday, January 26, 2025 immediately following morning service in the sanctuary. The meeting was called to order at 11:14am by Pat Sanford, Moderator, who welcomed everyone. Pastor Kelly Thibeault gave an opening prayer.

Pat reminded us to keep in mind the Church Committee Covenant (2007) treating each other with kindness and respect. The roll call of members was then read by Linda Vogler, Clerk, with 24 responding, and 2 guests.

A recess for the purpose of reading the printed reports had been observed. A motion to waive the reading of the reports with the exception of the Treasurers’ Reports, Proposed Budget and Nominating Report was made by James Fontaine and seconded by Ed Clavette. The motion passed unanimously.

A motion to accept the waived reports as printed with the exception of the Treasurers’ Reports, Proposed Budget and Nominating Report was made by Cindi Barkley and seconded by Jim Koepfler. The motion passed unanimously. The Auditing’ statement was then read by Tom Sanford, finding the books to be accurate and well kept.

Jim Koepfler, Treasurer, explained the work of the treasurers and thanked both assistant treasurers, Deb Fennell and Dan Thibeault. He also thanked Jim Fennell for his input from the Stewardship team. He gave an overview of the summary. The Thrift Shop is a new fundraising opportunity which will share profits 50/50 between General Fund and Missions. Food Forward Collection which alots $1 per meal sold to help feed those in need. Jim Koeplfer reported that $250 was sent to Attleboro Faith Collaborative each quarter in 2024.

A couple report items were reviewed:

Online Giving: James Fennell extended gratitude to those who cover costs vs submit expenses. Online giving contributions incur a small fee.

Historian Fund Expense: this expense covered cement blocks for basement under General Fund and (2) framed prints completed in 2024

Special Collections: bulk of the amount is Pastor Kelly gift and relief collections (detail shown in auditor’s report)

Beth Sanford moved to accept the treasurer’s report, seconded by Steve Mankavech. The motion passed unanimously.

Fund Treasurer’s Report by Dan Thibeault: Dan explained the various funds that we have and how they can be used. He pointed out that we still paid ourselves back for the schoolhouse work that was completed in 2024.

Motion to accept the report was made by Tom Sanford, seconded by Ed Clavette and passed unanimously.

The Proposed Budget for 2025 was then read by Jim Koepfler. Terry Forbes moved to accept the budget, seconded by Mike Escola and passed unanimously.

New Business:

The Welcome Statement was discussed. Members shared opinions of it being too lengthy, but divinely inspired. The welcome statement which confirmed Oldtown as an Open and Affirming Church was accepted with (1) opposition.

The Nominating Committee report was read by Linda Vogler.

Hospitality Ministry was added with Terry Forbes as chair and Terry Forbes, Cindi Barkley and Megan Fennell as members.

Jim Fennell shared thankfulness for North Attleboro High School students who helped at the church.

A motion to adjourn was made at 12:07pm by Tom Sanford and seconded by Ed Clavette, passed unanimously.

The Doxology was sung by all and the meeting adjourned to Maxcy Hall for coffee and fellowship.

As of December 31, 2025, there were 95 members on the active list.
Members on the inactive list may be transferred back to the active list, upon their request.

We celebrated two baptisms in 2025, and Pastor Kelly officiated at one wedding and fifty-five funerals at the church and around the community, including one funeral for a beloved member of our Oldtown family, Merillee Fontaine.
