Oldtown Music Ministry Annual Report 2025

Oldtown Music Ministry Annual Report 2025

Over the last year, the Oldtown Music Ministry has grown as a ministry. Our ministry is not just a group of musicians who plan and perform music for our worship services. We also look for ways to involve more people in the music of our church, including members of our congregation who might not consider themselves musicians. Music at Oldtown is not about perfect performances; it is about making a joyful noise together! It is about singing, dancing, playing instruments, clapping, listening, and letting the music take us to places where we experience God.

During the past twelve months, our worship services have included accompanied vocal music, a capella vocal music, solo instrumental music, and group instrumental music with the return of our chimes – a highlight of Oldtown music in 2025. Another highlight was the sing-along “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” in September, which included guitar, piano, the Oldtown Singers, and other members of the congregation who felt moved to come up and sing! There was clapping and dancing and the kind of celebration that must have made God smile.

It seems remiss not to thank the folks who make sure we have beautiful music at each of our services. We have a wide range of skills, experience, and interests in our group of musicians here at Oldtown. But they share one thing in common – they volunteer their gifts and time because of their love of music and their love of Oldtown.

So, as we move forward together in 2026, we would like to involve even more people in music at Oldtown. Stay tuned for some exciting new initiatives!
