Worship Bulletin – July 6, 2025

FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, UCC

WELCOME TO OLDTOWN
North Attleborough, MA — July 6, 2025

We come to this place because somewhere in our lives, faintly or distinctly, we have heard God call us here. We come, some sleepily, some alert, some tired, some energized, to share together in God’s presence and to give thanks for God’s loving grace.

Ministers: ALL of our Members and Friends
Pastor & Teacher: The Rev. Kelly Thibeault

Welcome to the Oldtown Church!

We are so glad that you have chosen to worship with us today. We invite you to join in on the bold print in the bulletin and to stand as you are able any time you see a . The restrooms are out the back door of the sanctuary to the right, as is a little space in case your little one needs a walkabout. Here in Oldtown, we are all about being curious, so don’t be afraid to ask questions, and please join us for fellowship with coffee and snacks after worship!
Finally, as a way of honoring our time together and truly loving our neighbor, we ask that you please silence your phone or, better yet, turn it off, allowing yourself to be truly present in worship.

BENEDICTION

BENEDICTION RESPONSE (C#434)
Sent forth by God’s blessing, our true faith confessing,
The people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The service is ended, O now be extended
The fruits of our worship, in all who believe.
The seed of the teaching, receptive hearts reaching,
shall blossom in action for God and for all.
God’s grace did invite us, and love shall unite us,
to work for God’s realm and to answer the call.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER

Weekly Giving

  • Last week, we welcomed 74 people to worship with us, and our total giving to the church for the week was $595.78, which is $827.30 less than expected.
  • So far, this year’s congregational giving has been $4,600 more than expected. Keep up the great work!!

Summertime is a great time to rest, in all of its many different forms. Some spend time with family, traveling to new places or familiar, favorite spots. Others string up a hammock and catch up on reading, listening to music, or watching movies and television with friends and family. Today’s culture tells us we’re measured by the work we do and the output of our productivity. Jesus shows us that rest is not only necessary, but also an important act that can affect not only ourselves but also others in way we may not anticipate or understand.

The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.
