Pastor & Teacher: The Rev. Kelly Thibeault

Welcome to the Oldtown Church!

We are so glad that you have chosen to worship with us today. We invite you to join in on the bold print in the bulletin and to stand as you are able any time you see a . The restrooms are out the back door of the sanctuary to the right, as is a little space in case your little one needs a walkabout. Here in Oldtown, we are all about being curious, so don’t be afraid to ask questions, and please join us for fellowship with coffee and snacks after worship!
Finally, as a way of honoring our time together and truly loving our neighbor, we ask that you please silence your phone or, better yet, turn it off, allowing yourself to be truly present in worship.

POSTLUDE

*** Our worship has ended; let our service begin! ***

WONDERFUL WORDS FROM THE WORLD

Mister Fred Rogers – As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is. Each of us has something that no one else has or will ever have, something inside that is unique to all time. It’s our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.
~ Akers, Daneen. Holy Troublemakers & Unconventional Saints. Watchfire Media, Inc. 2019.

WONDERFUL WORDS FROM THE PSALMS

Psalm 133 – How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion. For there the LORD ordained his blessing, life forevermore.

WONDERFUL WORDS FROM THE BOOK OF ACTS

Acts 2:44 – And all who believed were together and had things in common.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER

Weekly Giving

  • Last week, we welcomed 45 people to worship with us. Our total giving to the church last week was $1,292.31, which is $130.77 less than expected.
  • So far, this year’s congregational giving has been $5,400 more than expected. Keep up the great work!!

A recurring character on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was Officer Clemmons, an African American police officer in the neighborhood. Officer Clemmons was one of the first recurring African American roles on television. In 1969, when racially segregated swimming pools were still prevalent and controversial, Mr. Rogers invited Officer Clemmons to cool his feet with him in a small, plastic wading pool. Mr. Rogers lent Officer Clemmons a towel to dry his feet and then used the same towel to dry his own feet, breaking a well-known color barrier and modeling Jesus in the process.

After he had washed their feet, had put on his robe, and had reclined again, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for that is what I am. So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.
