WELCOME & WORSHIP WAYS

⇑ OPENING HYMN C#53—”Morning Has Broken”

CALL TO WORSHIP
God be with us,
And whisper in our ears.
God be with us,
And write upon our hearts.
God be with us,
As we worship together.

PRAYER FOR LETTING GO
Loving God, we have given more weight to our successes and our happiness than your will. We have eaten without a thought for the hungry, spoken without an effort to understand others, kept quiet instead of telling the truth, and taken the gifts you have given us for granted. Forgive us and help us to live as Your disciples. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

⇑ HYMN OF PRAISE
Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers,
Nor trials in the present, nor any trials to come,
Neither height, nor depth, nor all of creation
Can ever separate us from the love of God
Poured out in Christ Jesus our Lord.

SHARING TIME
Change my heart, O God. Make it ever true.
Change my heart, O God. May I be like you.
You are the Potter. I am the clay;
Mold me and make me. This is what I pray.
Change my heart, O God. Make it ever true;
Change my heart, O God. May I be like you.

SCRIPTURE LESSON: Jeremiah 31:31-34 (Oldtown Bible: OT 899)

Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me,
Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me.
Break me, Melt me, mold me, fill me.
Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE and THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER

Weekly Giving

  • Last week, we welcomed 51 people in worship, and our total giving to the church for the week was $3,355.75, which is $1,971.13 more than expected for the week.
  • So far, this year’s congregational giving is $3,000 more than we expected. Keep up the great work!!

Monthly Finances for February

  • Our February fundraising was $289 less than expected. Traditionally, fundraising gets off to a slow start for the year, but things are already starting to ramp up with our suppers, yard sales, and our upcoming Art and Craft Fair in May!
  • In February, our total income was $700 less than expected, while our total expenses were $141 more than expected.
  • For the year, our total income is $2,100 less than our total expenses.

As you can see, the beginning of the year usually brings higher-than-normal expenses with more heating oil deliveries, snow plowing, and other large quarterly expenses. We do have some work to do to catch up, but Oldtown has always been up to the task. If you’d like to help with fundraising, please see Ed Clavette or Jim Fennell.

So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all and especially for those of the family of faith.
