OLDTOWN CHURCH COFFEEHOUSE CREW REPORT – 2017
The Oldtown Church Coffeehouse was organized by North Attleborough High School junior and church member Kait Clavette and fellow church member Tammy England in June 2004. When Kait graduated in 2006, we formed an ad-hoc Coffeehouse Crew Committee to continue this ministry.
For the past fourteen years, this coffeehouse has been a welcoming place for the young people of our community to express themselves in music and poetry, supported by their peers. Yet our coffeehouses are open to performers and patrons of all ages.
These events are led by our community’s young people, with our Missions Committee as a sponsor to these events at the church. As each crew leader graduates and moves on to further education, we continue to be blessed with new leaders to take up the role. This year we were blessed with seven leaders from North Attleboro from January to May 2017: Kaylee Drew, Will Hope, Meg Hudson, Andrew Lamoureux, Casey Magas, Brooke Milosh, and Ricky Mulligan, and six leaders from June to December 2016: Jillian Allen, Meara Curran, Kaylee Drew, Kendall Hauerwas, Casey Magas, and Jason Montes.
This outstanding team helps to create a wonderful relationship between the ages in our community. Thanks also go to Tamsen Coffey, Kelly Thibeault, and June and Kait Clavette for their faithful support and tireless work at the coffeehouse.
Proceeds from these events are donated to charities selected by the leaders and range from local to national and global levels. In 2017, they supported: Lenore’s Pantry, NAHS Arts Dept Scholarship Fund, NAHS Music Dept, NAHS Theatre, New Hope, North Attleboro Animal Shelter, Toys for Tots, UCC Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, UCC Hurricane Relief Fund for Puerto Rico, and donations to our church.
Since its beginning in 2004, we have held 126 events. As of the close of 2017, these motivated and talented groups have helped raise a cumulative total of $ 76,308!
We are blessed to be part of the fellowship, talent, and growth that is present in this collaboration. This experience is truly a gift to God as a joyful noise. Please take the opportunity to share in the experience and joy of a cup of coffee and music with us. It would be wonderful if more adults would get involved in helping to chaperone the events.
All Are Welcome!
Respectfully submitted,
Edmund Clavette
