WELCOME / TIME OF CENTERING

CALL TO WORSHIP
Let us remember that we are not here because of our goodness
But because of Christ’s grace,
That we are not here to enlighten ourselves,
But to allow Jesus to enlighten us,
That we have not come to be entertained
But to worship God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Loving God, you tell us we cannot serve two masters, yet we spend more time focusing our energies elsewhere, diverting our time, our energy, our money, and our attention away from you. Forgive us, when our hearts are led astray. Lead us back from our distractions and sin and strengthen us that we might be faithful followers of Jesus. Amen.

PREPARING OURSELVES FOR PRAYER
In moments like these, I sing out a song,
I sing out a love song to Jesus.

In moments like these, I lift up my hands.
I lift up my hands to the Lord.

Singing, “I love you, Lord.”
Singing, “I love you, Lord.”

Singing, “I love you, Lord. I love you.”

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE and the LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*BENEDICTION RESPONSE
Sent forth by God’s blessing, our true faith confessing,
The people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The service is ended. O now be extended
The fruits of our worship in all who believe.
The seed of the teaching, receptive hearts reaching

Did You Know?

  • Summer is a “Sabbath time” when we rest and recharge our batteries, often involving travel with family or just taking time away from the daily routine. Enjoy the rest, and remember it’s easy to continue supporting your church even when you’re not joining us for worship on any given Sunday by giving online at https://www.oldtownucc.org/giving
