Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. BENEDICTION

BENEDICTION RESPONSE
Sent forth by God’s blessing, our true faith confessing,
The people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The service is ended, O now be extended
The fruits of our worship in all who believe.
The seed of our teaching, receptive hearts reaching,
Shall blossom in action for God and for all.
God’s grace did invite us, and love shall unite us,
To work for God’s realm and to answer the call.

HELP FEED OUR COMMUNITY

Many families are struggling to make ends in our community. Throughout the fall, we will collect non-perishable food items to share with our local food pantries. There will be a permanent basket/box placed at the front of the Sanctuary. A second box/basket will be placed at the entrance of Maxcy Hall for anyone unable to walk to the front of the church or for those who care to bring in items during the week. If everyone brought one item per week, the baskets would quickly become bountiful and help so many hungry neighbors.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER

Weekly Giving

  • The total giving for the past four Sundays (7/31 to 8/21) was $4,704.60, which is $1,103.09 less than expected for those four weeks.
  • Our total giving for the year is $4,200 less than we expected it to be.

As summer winds to a close and we return from our travels, let us all take some time to appreciate the joys of worshiping together at Oldtown. While catching up with friends we haven’t seen in a while is enjoyable, remember why we’re here, focusing on the mission and vision of the church and all the things the Bible tells us about gathering together as God’s children. Jesus tells us that where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there among us. He tells us to teach and admonish each other in wisdom, raise our voices singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, devoting ourselves to the teaching of the Bible, the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers.

“And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
~ Hebrews 10:24-25 (NRSVUE)
