Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE and THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

⇑ BENEDICTION RESPONSE
Sent forth by God’s blessing, our true faith confessing,
The people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The service is ended, O now be extended
The fruits of our worship in all who believe.
The seed of our teaching, receptive hearts reaching,
Shall blossom in action for God and for all.
God’s grace did invite us, and love shall unite us,
To work for God’s realm and to answer the call.

COME TO THE TABLE
An Adult Spirituality Series
On Wednesday nights at 6pm during the month of September, we will be offering an adult spirituality series titled “Come to the Table.” It will be a time to gather, break bread, share a cup of soup, and reflect on one of the sacred stories of our faith. This is not simply a time of food and fellowship but rather a sacred time to stretch our hearts and minds as we deepen our faith and feed our souls. Though we try to include all ages in everything we do in Oldtown, this series is geared toward adults.
HOUSEHOLD HUDDLE
We are excited to announce that Household Huddle will begin again on September 18 th at 9am. Household Huddle is not a “drop-off” activity for the kids, but an opportunity for families to learn about and experience faith together! All ages and stages are welcome!
HELP FEED OUR COMMUNITY
Throughout the fall, we will be collecting non-perishable food items to share with our local food pantries. If everyone brought one item per week, the baskets would quickly become bountiful and help so many hungry neighbors.
POTLUCK LUNCHEON
Join us after worship next week for a Potluck Luncheon in Maxcy Hall! This will be a true potluck; no sign-ups are needed. Just bring something to share as we welcome families back and begin getting into our regular fall routines.
STEWARDSHIP CORNER
Weekly Giving
- The total giving for last week was $1,625.99, which is $174.07 more than expected for the week.
- Our total giving for the year is $4,500 less than we expected it to be.
As we get into the full swing of fall, our minds turn to thoughts of stewardship and what we all can do to support the work of the church. Support comes in many forms, and we usually refer to the “time, talents, and treasure” that we all can give. There will be opportunities to help with fundraising events in the near future, including the return of our Fall Fair. We are also discussing bringing back other fundraising events and starting some new ones, and we’re also looking for new and creative ideas. Please reach out to your stewardship ministry directly–Jim Fennell or Kevin Graves–or email stewardship@oldtownucc.org if you’re willing to help or have ideas for our fundraising events.
“Whatever task you must do, work as if your soul depends on it, as for the Lord and not for humans, since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ.”
